The Foundation operates as a non-profit charitable organisation and sustains long-term services through its governance structure, funding sources and charitable objectives.
Basic information
An independent, non-political, non-religious and non-profit charitable organisation
The Foundation’s Chinese name is 粵港澳大灣區慈善基金（有限公司） and its English name is Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Foundation Limited. The Foundation was established in Hong Kong and granted charitable status by the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance on 24 April 2019.
Sources of Funding
The Foundation’s funding comes primarily from corporate and individual donations, support from caring members of the Board and Honorary Chairman, and charitable resources raised for specific programmes.
Non-Profit Commitment
If the Foundation is dissolved, all assets will be donated in accordance with its constitution to other lawfully registered charitable organisations so they can continue serving the community.
Governance Structure
The Board oversees direction; the Executive Committee manages daily operations
The Board is the Foundation’s highest oversight body. It oversees major directions and policies but is not involved in daily operations. Under the constitution, the Executive Committee is responsible for strategic planning, daily management, member appointments and meeting decisions.
When the Executive Committee encounters a dispute or difficulty in decision-making, the Board may join an enlarged meeting to assist. The advisory group provides advice on healthcare, education, the environment, social services and corporate collaboration according to members’ professional backgrounds.
